IBC Tour De France - July 2013

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Members of the club completed last week our third Europe bike tour. This time it was in the Loire valley - the essence of the romantic France. Of course it is mainly the Châteaux that the Loire is famous for. But the Châteaux are not all this area can offer. We had a record number of riders – 16, and we rode about 240 miles in six days.
We started in Tours and rode to Chinon on the first day, visiting the garden of Château Villandry and stopping for a picture at Langeais Château. We entered the royal fortress of Chinon.
The second day we toured the Chinon area. It was raining on the third day When we rode to Azay le Rideau and visited the beautiful château there after having lunch at a local Créperie.
On the fourth day we rode along the Indre river on our way to Chenonceau. We stop at Bléré and had lunch on the curb by the church before visiting the picturesque Château de Chenonceau.
The fifth day had the longest route. We started along the Cher river on our way to Cheverny where we had a quick lunch. From there we continued to the amazing Château de Chambord and arrived at Blois in the evening.
The sixth and final day was very hot. We rode along the Loire river back to Tours, with a long stop in Amboise. We took pictures of Château d'Amboise and fixed the first flat tire we had in all of our European tours so far. We had lunch at a Créperie that served only salads because it was too hot in the kitchen to prepare crepes and we visited the Leonardo de Vinci museum in Château Du Clos Lucé.
It was a fun trip with nice places to see and we are looking forward for the next one.

Participants: David, Moe, Sharrin, Arrielle, Ronen, Tal, Uri, Yael, Assaf, Shy, Loofie, Guy, Eric, Yanor, Neil and Ronnie.
